Wife's first time at the scrap yard

I guess I'm pretty lucky to be married for 10 years to a gal who is willing to go the the junk yard with me on one of my excursions. It was her first time ever being to one of these places. She was getting more and more excited as we kept walking around from truck to truck. She even asked if they would consider selling a whole truck. In the picture she was excited to have found some really nice front bumper brackets. She can't wait to go back again. It was a great day!

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

I definitely plan hanging on. We already dismantled a 1965 parts truck and she's wondering when we can get another to take apart. Its become the perfect project.

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

Your a very lucky man, my ex wouldn't even go an wait in the car, she would get wind of me going, probably from one of the stool pigeon kids, and make plans that had to have me there......grrrrr, ok that's one reason she is an ex.

That's awesome! When my wife was just a girlfriend she was always ready for the trip. But, like most wives, she always figures out a way to have something to do for us those days.... Keep that lady, she's very special!!

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

Mine came with me to the salvage yard not long ago. Crappy day, mosquitoes biting and the humidity was crazy. She hung in there and actually found the part I neded for me. Now there is no keeping her away from them when we go. She has actually cancelled outings with her girlfriends to come along.
They broke the mold with this one...

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

Mine as well go`s to the wreckers with me, matter of fact while I was building my ` 37 she had done some research on an old wrecking yard, actually someone`s private stock, she had gotten a number and talked with the owner and got us in there, we had spend the better part of 6 hrs there, I think that the owner was amazed that she was there wrenching right along with me we kept in touch with him for several years, he passed and you guys know the rest, the state crushed the rest....

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

My wife goes with me to look at parts trucks and cars but draws the line at Junk yards! We went once and she saw a Anaconda at least 1 foot long" actually a bull snake" one minute she was beside me the next on top off the car we was looking at

I'm happy for you and I think it's great when our better halfs support us with our hobbies.

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

I'm glad to see so many of us have supportive women in our lives. My girlfriend Lyssa is awesome - when I got the call about my C 20, she literally ran with me to the ATM, and she's always looking to help with the Jeep we're building her. She even brings me beer in the garage and helps me clean and tune up the rest of my cars. I joked one time about giving her a chrome ring made from my old Nova bumper, and she said "Hell yeah". I'm totally knocking this one up.

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

Mines a keeper! we wake up on the weekend and i ask "what do you want to do today" she says "go to the pick-n-pull"....i love it....We are at the yard and im under a truck pulling off the swaybar she says "baby i need a socket that fits this bolt" i stop and find her the right one" she leaves and i go back to pulling the sawy bar...I hear her walk back up a little later and she has a 64-66 grill in her hands....

on her cars i crawl under the car with her and tell her how to do stuff but she does all the work on them change the oil,starter,etc....i double check that bolts and things are tight but she does most the work...

here she is sitting in her 63 comet right after she cut the front springs and installed 3inch lowering blocks...

We had to sell her comet but now shes driving a 73 bug but wants a 60-66 truck also:

sounds like my wife...she tolerates/supports my passion for old cars/trucks...and while she doesn't like getting her hands dirty, she likes to go for a ride in my truck...but some of you guys are EXTREMELY lucky,

Re: Wife's first time at the scrap yard

Any support from the wife is a great thing. My wife helps to when she's needed except when it comes to bleeding brakes she hates that { I think its that I'm the one calling out pump hold pummp hold }. Seriously though she's great I've been with her for 25 years hope to be still in at least another 25.
