Re: lq4 cam swap
way too open ended. Lots of options, depending on what/if you plan on doing later.
Some will say "custom grind" but for a stock motor i don't think there's a point to that. I have a tsp tsunami, and its a bit overcammed, especially with the low compression on the lq4. I'm happy with it, but I could eeek a few more ponies with less cam. If I were to get longtubes and some port work, or flycut and maybe mill the heads, then it would be perfect. fwiw, the tsunami is one of the largest cams you can run while maintaining ptv on a stock engine.

Re: lq4 cam swap
This is the cam i have. It has great low end power. I can drive my 4x4 85 burb threw town at 1100 rpm in 4th with converter locked and it does just fine if i need to pass. Most of the time it wont even need to shift. Pulls hard to 5k also. That is the highest i have taken it. It idles at 700 just fine in gear aswell. Only thing i did was replaced the timing chain, push rods, and springs. Great cam all around.

Re: lq4 cam swap
Looking at the 111 seperation, does it have a lope at idle or ? I was looking at a cam with about the same lift and a 109 seperation.

Re: lq4 cam swap
Not really. You can notice it is not factory but it idles very smooth. I think it pulls 16-18 in vaccum at idle as well. I wish it was a little more choppy but i love the drivability of it so untell i get better heads i am gona leave it.

Re: lq4 cam swap
I talked to Alvin at PCMforLess about my cam. Check out their site, they have some nice cams that were designed with bigger, heavier vehicles in mind. I got the Attitude Cam

Re: lq4 cam swap
when you change cam, decide first what TC you are going to run. I am keeping the stock TC for now so I went with a comp 218ish cam.
