16.5x9.75 steel wheel question
I've posted this over in my build thread in the 4x4 section. I thought I would get a larger audience to answer my question here.
I finally got a set of the 16.5x9.75 steelies. Before and after pictures. I've gathered several of these, with different offsets and hubcap nub locations. These are the only ones with a small hole, as you can see by the last picture. Any idea what it's for? |

I have no idea... have never seen that - but the wheels came out nice! Look forward to seeing pics when mounted and installed!

Not sure but I always wished I had something like that when my rusty old wheels were stuck on the rear hubs...just to pry them off with!!!!

Re: 16.5x9.75 steel wheel question
some vehicles had a pin so the wheel would only go on one way or to help line up the studs? my 50 chrysler has a pin on the hub that goes through the drum and the rims have a corresponding hole. owned the car for 39 years and never really thought about why they would do this other than the fact it has bolts instead of studs. probably had something to do with the vehicle they came off of.

That being a locating hole makes the most sense. Obviously not needed on our applications. Seems like I do recall a small nub protruding through a rim years ago with my Gramps at the grain elevator. Sure don't know why having these wheels rotated specificly other than just on the eight lugs would matter... |

I can't wait to get it done. Keep following my progress, as I'll continue to put up new pictures. Yours is one of the coolest 'Burbans I've ever seen. It sets just right! I'll only have a 2 1/2" lift on mine. I'm concerned about the look with 33's vs. the height. I don't want the wheelwell filled up. I'll try the 31's I have on the 8.25 wides first to see. |
