Anyone know the correct generator for a 58 V8 3100?

Looking around for a generator for my 58 restoration and didn't know there were different sizes. Does anyone know what's correct for a 58 V8 283 ? Correct brackets?
Thanks

I will look in the FAM later for the brackets. I believe the generator was a 36 amp unit. I sold my last two last summer.

I have a good core for $25.
I think they are 25 amps continuous, 36 amp intermittant duty. The regulators are only rated at 25 amps as well.

Here is what is in the FAM. Looks like the Generator bolts to two tabs on the driver exhaust manifold, the adjustment arm bolts to the water pump bolt. My brackets have the cast bolt holes for the horseshoe bracket.

Don't understand the question. Just saw this locally. http://boise.craigslist.org/pts/2818586107.html

Re: Anyone know the correct generator for a 58 V8 3100?

It's been so long since I bought one I could not tell you, and don't even know if I knew there were two types. You might check out the tech sections over at stovebolts.com, they are more stock orientated. I assume you also did a deep Google search for the PN's? I know on mine one was an original Delco, a second rebuilt I carried in case the first puked in the boonies that did not have any numbers on it. Always replace the generator with a new voltage regulator, in the 60's one of the first lessons I learned (cost me a couple days pay when wage was $1.60 per hour!) is when one goes bad replace both or you will just keep frying generators.

Re: Anyone know the correct generator for a 58 V8 3100?

The long ones were 45 amps, and the short ones were 25 amps.

I have a 25 amp generator, it has a little red tag on it with a part number.

Send me $40, $25 for the generator, and $15 for shipping, and it's yours.
I'm thinking that it just needs brushes or springs, but it hasn't seen the light of day for about 25 years.
It hasn't been on my truck for 30 some years, and I don't remember the problem. and it's a 57.

If you send me the $40, I'll throw in a regulator for it.

Message me and I'll get back to you
