Re: spare tire
On my truck it is currently under the bed behind the axle. You can also get a mount to put it inside the bed up against a bed side.

I just carried two in the bed, on split rims with extra tubes, for when I was in the boonies. This time I'm going to do the same but secure them a little better.

Re: spare tire
In today's world, all you need is a can of fixaflat and a cell phone.
If the fixaflat can't fix it, you need another tire anyway. The new corvettes don;t have spares, they have tire sensors that notify you that the pressure is low. So that means that every ten minutes or so, let go of the wheel, and if it still goes straight, your tires are holding air. Soooooo the other thing you can do is buy a tire hoist that they put on the newer tahoes and winch it up under the bed. |

Re: spare tire
A rear mounted gas tank should give you plenty of room behind the seat where most of the rest of us keep our gas tanks. Having the spare inside the cab protects it from all kinds of nasty exposure to the elements. Most all of my pickups spare tires look like crap after being carried under the bed for any length of time.

Re: spare tire
I've got a skinny spare off some vehicle I had at some time or other. It's gotten me home a time or two and will be mounted behind the seat when I stretch the cab. It's no thicker than a in cab gas tank. You only use one to get to a place where you can have the flat repaired or replaced anyhow. I seldom carry a spare in my 71 unless I am on a road trip out of my home area.

What happens when you hit a pothole? I understand that Motown has more than its share of those.

Re: spare tire
how to make your truck look lower than it is?
park on grass that hasn't been mowed in 10 days. jackson, no there would not be room to mount a spare under a frame mount tank. i would do the mini behind the seat trick.
