New to this "online club"
I bought this '82 last October, new low dollar fun project. It needs new fenders for the bed .Any tips in general. Has manual disc/drum brakes and pads are good but starting to pull bad to the right. Thanks..

Welcome from Victoria! Looks to be pretty straight! I didn't know you could still get manual brakes in the 80's trucks.

Re: New to this "online club"
Thanks to the replies, hope to have fun with it. I had the white/rusted rims sandblasted, then I painted with etching primer, Graphite Duplicolor wheel paint, and finally Duplicolor Clearcoat wheel paint. Then found the tires brand new tires on Craig's list $100 ea. Will keep u posted. Dave

Re: New to this "online club"
I've never seen an 80's style GM truck with manual brakes. It's cool! Looks like a solid base to start with. I'd try to find a factory '82 grille for it and put the turn signals back in the bumper. That's my favorite 80's grille on these trucks. Nice ride!

Re: New to this "online club"
Thanks for the grille info, I won't tell you about how several items were rigged to work on this truck and I stress "RIGGED". I knew someone did some rework to the grille. I have an '82 Chevy Truck brochure and it shows trucks with lights in 2 and 4 headlight setups, but all signals were in the bumper, painted them black for now. Daughter in college and original purchase price of $850 I could not pass up, but upgrades are as money allows. Dave

Re: New to this "online club"
That was a great buy on that little truck. I have used the Duplicolor wheel paint and it's good stuff. That truck might have started out as a six cylinder truck, since it had manual brakes. In most cases the pulling to the right or left in the brakes will be a bad brake hose. They get frayed inside. You might start there to solve your brake problem. Good job!

Re: New to this "online club"
Brake pulls can also be caused by corrosion between the piston and the caliper bore.
In that case the deficient caliper is opposite direction of the pull; in other words, if it's pulling to the right then the left caliper/piston may be bunged up. I'd check that, too - K

Re: New to this "online club"
Thanks, Yes it had a 350 SBC transplant before I bought it, my brother noticed the fan shroud or lack thereof where the inline six would have had a fan. They did an ok job but I need a new trans, the 700R4 has no reverse but gears 1-4 pull great., just have to back downhill only, ha ha.

Re: New to this "online club"
Thanks for the welcome. I would not know where to start, the only item that may present an issue is the drivers door, badly rotted out and if you have any links on a used one keep me in mind. In time I plan to get cab corners and drivers rocker panel from LMC trucks. Then try to find a set of bed fenders, I like tha fact that they are 100% bolt on. I know doors can be bought through LMC, but the quality I would question. I will be at the Friday cruises there in DG. Until 2 years ago, I brought a 1995 Tbird that I had, sold it fall 2010 though. I nlike all classic cars or trucks, within reason. Dave
