Re: best tire size for stock rims
If you're trying to match the stock tire appearance, I found that a 215/75 15 tire came closest to matching the look of the stock H78 x 15 tires. But the stock rims on my 70 C10 are 5.5" wide, so if you have 7" rims the tires will sit a little wider and shorter.
I also found that different makes and models of tire looked different even when they were all the same 215/75 15 size. Some were taller and some shorter and wider, so it's best to check the manufacturers specs to see what they say the mounted dimensions will be. It's not a great picture of the tires, but you can see my truck with the 215s in this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...3&postcount=44 Hope that helps!

Re: best tire size for stock rims
H78-15 as close as I can remember, though there were lots of options in other rim sizes also.

Re: best tire size for stock rims
235/75/15 would be best to go with if you want correct radial size stock. For Original look like Bias ply tires I heard 8.20 But correct me if I am wrong.

Re: best tire size for stock rims
My 69 came with tire option 825-15 on the SPID
On the cross reference chart I came up with G78-15 P215-75R15 P225-70R15 I ended up with P225-75R15 but they came off my aunts Jeep Cherokee Sport after she total it with only 5 miles on the new tires. I do like the size and look though. I wanted something taller to fill the openings with No whitewalls. |

Re: best tire size for stock rims
They are S10/Astro van caps..I removed the black paint that was on them and repainted to try and match my truck.
Here is a link of what I started with..took some time but the wheels and caps turned out great in my opionion. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...74#post5109674

Re: best tire size for stock rims
Stock rims were 6" wide. Are you measuring them from inside the bead to inside the bead?
235 75 15 won't look too wide once they are on the truck IMO.

Re: best tire size for stock rims
. . . .
My 70 has: 235 x 75 x 15's on stock wheels. I'd like to have a couple sizes larger, to "fill" the wheel wells a little more, but that's as big as I could find in this size whitewall. . . . .

Re: best tire size for stock rims
I personally like the white walls for a stock truck. I just think that's a classic look.
