rescued a good parts truck from the crusher

My son and I are building a '64 for him to drive. He wanted a Custom. We could not find a good one when we bought his truck almost 2 years ago. Except for the right door trim, see the note below, this will go a long way toward adding the custom options to his truck.


















This door was clean and straight when I first looked at it. Some hammerhead hit it with a forktruck> I was planning to use the door trim

No offense...but that is a hell of a nice "parts" truck....I'd have a tough time tearing it apart for parts

Yeah, no kidding. That's as nice or nicer than the '65 we just bought for my son's project.

And if he does get them from you could you post measurements of the mounting hole and the light itself. Perhaps even just holding it up to the rear cross sill. I wonder if you could use them on a stepside mounted into the rear cross sill. Never thought about it before.

I was very suprised when I saw this truck. I tried to play it cool and said it's "just" a parts truck but please don't crush it, I want some stuff off of it. Another guy was looking at the same time. I kind of helped convince him that he did not need it. It is in better shape than the 1st truck I bought for us to build. If I can get my wife to go for it, I'm keeping the whole truck. So... lucky me. It's about time If I find another, I'm going to hook all of you up. This is the 3rd truck he has had in the last month. A friend with a '64 SWB BBW got them. I have heard of a complete barn truck that is about an hour away from me that has dealer installed AC.

BTW, I've been meaning to make a build thead. Can't seem to find the time yet. Here are a few shots of where we are at: The front fenders and hood are ready to put back on. Got to finish the inner fenders. We are 90% finished from the firewall to the back bumper.

I know what you mean. I have recently been trying to figure out a way to get these trucks to people that see more than "scrap". I don't have the space or the cash to buy all of them. I don't want to break the forum rules by letting people know about trucks for sale that I don't own but have access to. I currently can get them for $276.00 / ton.

Its just you. (just kidding) Personally, I dont see why everyone seems to like these. I think they are fugly and wouldnt take one for free except that I would be a fool not to since I could probably get a good price when I sell it. I sure as heck wouldnt put it on my truck though.

I agree the brush gaurd looks like ass, it's so ugly , that's why it is cool. It too ugly for a Hot rod or custom truck, but fits perfect for a rat rod or patina truck.

Looks like you 'cant' have the grill guard and bumper guards at the same time ....

in that case, Ill take the bumper guards every time. I have a pair on a 61 bumper that Id love to use on my 66 bumper but Im having a tough time trying to figure out how to do that. Would it be easier to adapt the whole 61 bumper to my 66? Guess I need to start a new thread.

I may put the guard on my son's truck whether he likes it or not. He is 16 after all. Not that I can't tear stuff up, but... Did you notice the great shape the grill is in? Maybe it will help in the school parking lot.

I will get you folks the info you asked for. Hopefully soon. It was supposed to warm up a couple of days ago according to the weather guessers here in the Tx panhandle. So far they have been wrong again. They should have said cold, wet and windy.

QUESTION for the group...I've been trying to figure out what each dash gauge button (from left to right) are, or what they do. Can anyone list out what each one is please? I've looked all over this forum and online but can't get a detailed outline of what each is so that I can put mine together again.

Yes sir, I didn't intend to say that any moisture here is a bad thing. I would be fine if we had some rain or snow. I would like to see an inch or more over a few days. All we are getting is freezing fog and a little ice or drizzle. All the pain with no gain.

I believe it is. I have not checked to see if it works. The original radio from his ’64 was still working when we re-did the cab. We put it back in and mounted a radio, MP3, CD player under the dash. I have seen something about a company that can use an original radio and put new parts in it. You can go with a radio, MP3 player or both. My son wants to have that done. Now that he has a job, I guess he can do it someday.

They are 225 / 75 / 15. I think the wheels are off of '73 - '87 4x4's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
