Need Brake Help
I have a 70 C10 half ton. Took the rear brakes apart last weekend and got a new drum and shoes. Here's where it gets tricky. I know the front end has been converted to 5-lug disc cause I had to buy a new brake hose, and had to get one for a 71. The rear is 5-lug drums. I've always seen the adjustment slot on the backing plate, but my rear has it on the drum itself. NONE of the parts places I went to, have a drum with the adjustment slot on it. The shoes are 11x2
The only number on the drums are... Drivers = C2065 and 720295 Pass = 3989541 Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Need Brake Help
I ran into the same thing, I just drilled a hole in the drum big enough for my large flat blade screw drive to fit in. Worked perfect and I haven't had a single problem since.

Re: Need Brake Help
Interesting. My drums came from CPP and have the slot. I rarely use that slot tho...always felt it was more for maintenance vs install. I just tighten the adjuster so that getting the drum on is a tight fit and equal on each side. if needed...do a few back up stops to adjust.

Re: Need Brake Help
The drum I bought must have been boxed wrong. Went to a different Autozone and the drum for a 72 had the knockout for the slot. Thanks for all the input guys!!
