bbc setup questions
Hey guys I have a few questions I need answered about some things. I'll give you the engine setup so far and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
454 block bored.030 Forged bottom end stock stroke Keith Black 257 pistons Cloyes timing set 990 rectangle port heads w/ 2.30 intake 1.88 exhaust with heavy porting Comp solid roller lifters Comp xr280r cam 242/248 @ 050 646/653 lift on 1.7 rocker power band is 2500 to 6500 comp magnum roller rockers Compression is about 10.3:1 Rear gears are 3.73 Trans is a custom built 700r4 Stall is 2800 My first question is about headers. Should i use long tubes or shorties? Someone told me that shorties would help with low end torque. Second question is what intake should I use? I was looking at an Edlebrock Air gap performer rpm dual plane. Hopefully someone has some answers for me. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: bbc setup questions
I would use long tube headers. I think that intake would work for you.

Re: bbc setup questions
They are backwards!! Longtubes help torque. Performer RPM airgap all the way. Very good choice for street engines. I would have to say the solid lifter cam is a bit much for the street but hey go big, why not?

Holley street avenger 770 or 880cfm. Should help with the street manners.

Re: bbc setup questions
Atleast an 850 or maybe even a 950. It is a BIG BLOCK.

Re: bbc setup questions
Sound like a good job for an 800 DP in the HP series to me. You could go 850 but it would be nice to try both. Depends on the weight of the vehicle. With that gearing think an 800 would be fine.
