Is this for real??
1971 Chevy Truck Door Lock Knob Pull OEM H362 ?
My truck has these, but I accidentally sandblasted one. Turns out mine are plastic. The one in the link looks like it's rusting, so it's metal? But was it really an OEM item for our trucks [Custom Deluxe]?

Re: Is this for real??
I have been wrong before, but in this case I am 99% certain that is not OEM, not even the right style.

Re: Is this for real??
Where do you think they are getting OEM H362?
I've seen the metal ones on ebay - so it being metal isn't a surprise. Think they came out in the 60's-70's.

I'm with 71swb4x4. People put those on in the day so you couldn't unlock your door with a clothes hanger.

Re: Is this for real??
I agree... but could it have been a stock option for our trucks?
I'd like to see where they got that number from. I'll "ask a question" and see what kind of reply I get, if any.

I agree, after all 90% of statistics are made up on the spot to support the theory the quoter is expounding upon.

Re: Is this for real??
I bet that's rust from the door panel not the actual part itself

Re: Is this for real??
Looks like a Cal Custom part from back in the day. But I suppose there is a chance it is a car item that someone put on your truck.

Re: Is this for real??
I sold car and truck accessories in the mid 70's and these were very popular back then. They were a theft deterent because with the factory ones with the knob on top you could slide a coat hanger throught the door jamb or vent window ( like the ones on our trucks) and hook it to the knob, pull up and unlock the door, but this sytle with the flat top you couldnt do that. I don't ever remember seeing these as OEM.

Re: Is this for real??
I guess they were made in plastic or metal. I've only seen metal. It's not a GM part. Ebay sellers can lie. That's a part number but just because the seller put OEM in front doesn't make it a GM part. GM used more digits than that anyway.
Those things were worthless. Any self respecting car thief knew (or anyone who locked their keys in) you could slide a knife blade between the wing vent and seal to "flip" the wing vent latch up. That's why later on they made them so you had to push a button to release.

Re: Is this for real??
Well, if anything, I'm learning how to brake into my truck
I think they look ok and match the other chrome trim. I just bought some CP Automotive ones for 3 bucks. I seen oem style in chrome, but don't want to spend an extra $6 for them.

Re: Is this for real??
Here's another way to break in........
If the window is cracked open just a bit, attach a piece of wire to a heavy "O" ring. Work this down over the straight lock pull, and pull up. The "O" ring gets cocked sideways on the door lock pull, it jams just a little, and if the lock works freely, it'll unlock easily. I don't advocate this to further someones career, but to suggest that these door lock pulls aren't fool-proof.
