Speedometer Cable
Question - Have 65 sb ss with 350 in front of 700R4 anyone know correct length of speedometer cable? Trying to keep everything neat as possible, dont want excessive cable curled up or in bind from being too long/short. Thanks

Re: Speedometer Cable
Just put a longer cable in my 65. Got one from the local parts store for a 1969, 2wd with a T-400, about 83" long, worked great.

Re: Speedometer Cable
loker sells one that you can cut to fit. It's expensive though.

Re: Speedometer Cable
Gonna hijack this thread a little bit since searching the forums for 'speedometer cable' led me to this and since it's related it may help others find this information.
So, does it matter if the transmission is different than what came with the vehicle when ordering a new speedo cable? My speedo is the original 1961 but the transmission is now an auto 350. Also, how much of the cable should be exposed on the dash end? Mine seems to have a lot, like 2" or so. Seems a bit long to me. And one final question, how tricky is it to install the new speedo cable into the transmission end? Thanks, - AP |

Re: Speedometer Cable
Ok so installing the cable is just a matter of screwing the caps on the end of trans and speedometer, but you have issues with being even close to accurate, wheel, tire, transmission... go here for futher corrections, we have most info here, just not everything yet,
