Motor Questions
Ok guysd please bear with me cause im not an expert on these things.
I picked up a 1986 C10 today which has a 4.3 v6 motor in it. She smokes like hell and makes noise on takeoff, and it appears to be a noise from the cam or heads. The truck shows 84K on the clock but the title shows 122,000 so ive got to assume its at least 184K on the motor based on this im thinking why even bother to change the top half of the motor cause once the top is tightened up the bottom half will go Heres the questions Will a 305 bolt up to this transmission and properly work? What kinds of problems will i have relating to the computer and emmissions and what kind of emmissions fabricating will i have to do? Someone already disconnected the air pump on this thing just to throw that into the equation and finally if i was to just replace the 4.3 motor with another one is there a vast power diffrence between the 305 and the 4.3? I like to try and keep thngs simple as possible so what am i in for with all of this?
