Im going to shorten the frame a bit and mount the stock box from a 55 2nd series on it (short bed) end result 1 ton 4x4.short bed , I might use a single axle rearend instead of dually ,havent decided yet.

I'll be keeping an eye on your project... I was actually thinking of something like that to pull my 5th wheel !

What year model is your GMC? I've been keeping an eye out for one of these trucks ever since I ran across this picture posted by special-K. The other is one I found on the web built as a 4wd pickup. Yours will be a cool project I'll keep an eye on.

Ya mine is a 1955 500 series and Im doing mine on a 1 ton 4x4 frame.The second picture you posted is what im hoping my end result looks like.I seen that picture before but lost it thanks for posting it
