Electronic Throttle Body... change?

Need some help guys....

Have a 5.3 out of an 03 Tahoe. Getting ready to start the rebuild to put in my 77. My question is, it has an electronic throttle body. I would like to change to cable throttle, is this a simple change??

Don't have the pedal assembly for it, what are my options?

Thanks,
Justin

Yes it is a simple swap as long as you have the right computer and harness. You can use your stock intake you will just have to find a way to put some inserts or studs in the empty holes. You will need a Red/Blue connector computer and matching harness.

Ok, I don't have the harness or computer... I'll start looking around yards and CL/Ebay see what I can find, thanks for the help!

Also read here bc I explained how I added studs on my intake for the throttle cable bracket.

Re: Electronic Throttle Body... change?

I've been pluggin around there lately, just trying to get as many opinions as I can

When I'm looking for a DBC throttle body, is there a kit I need for the cable and brackets, or can I use a factory style from the older pickups?

99-02 truck throttle body will work. You can also grab the inserts from the yard- just break em off with channel locks. Heat them and push into your intake...

Re: Electronic Throttle Body... change?

I bought a lokar throttle cable and a stock bracket and any 3 bolt throttle body will work.

Re: Electronic Throttle Body... change?

You'll want the wiring harness with red/green connectors, i know for sure those are for the cable setups. Couldn't tell ya if there were ever any of the blue/green connector combos setup for cable. I believe LT1swap has a list of ECMs determined whether they are flexible for either setup. If not, i have a list made up that i can either post on here or PM to you.

Now, what if I decide to go to an LS1 intake? Same cable throttle body? Fuel rails...?

Re: Electronic Throttle Body... change?

TB should be fine, get the rails and crossover tube from the ls1 to simplify things.

Re: Electronic Throttle Body... change?

Thanks man!

And one last question for now ;P.... My 5.3 has cathedral ports, what do I need to look for when searching for a used LS1 Intake? I see a bunch around EBAY/CL but not sure how they match up, the port on the intakes I've seen are square...?
