turn signal switch/bearing

Do any of you know if I can replace the upper steering bearing without replacing the entire switch on my 1963 GMC? I took my wheel off to fix a horn issue & the bearing literally fell apart. I know the turn signal switches are different from GMC to Chevy, & that the 64-66 chevy switches definitely don't work in my GMC. BTW, I have a brand new switch for a 64-66 chevy if anyone needs one. I've had if for several years but it is new.

I do not believe you can separate them (at least on a chev switch) - had mine off yesterday for some work, and reminded myself how much I hate pulling my steering wheel. No matter how many times I do it, or how much I think I know about putting it back together, or how carefully I lay the parts out "in order" - the #$%^& horn still blows and scares the snot outta me when I connect the batt the first time. Yesterday, took it apart asecond time, re-assembled exactly the same way, and it was fine. Anyway, I digresss - I believe the bearing is integral to the switch - on a chevy.

My 1966 GMC uses the same switch as the 1963 Chevies. I would check the 1963 Chevy switch. If that is the one you use, yes you can change the bearing without changing the switch.

i know this is an older post but im having the same issue with my 66 gmc. i to ordered a switch for a chevy because i couldnt find one for a gmc that came with the new bearing. does anyone know of a complete switch bearing and all because im thinking about just putting a chevy column in now.

i don't know about 66 but my 64 gmc takes the 63 chevy switch and bearing classic parts has them and are listed as 63chevy for gmc's
