Bad fuel pump?

My truck quit on the highway coming home from work. I was getting on it (as much as you can with 2.73s) to merge with highway traffic, and the truck just stopped. The fuse for the ECM kept blowing, so I got it towed. Once at home, I replaced it once more and pulled the fuel pump relay and fuse didn't blow...so, bad fuel pump I'm guessing

I'm running an otherwise-stock 5.3 with long tubes and an intake. I used an ACDelco EP241, which I know is a TPI application, but came recommended by LS swappers. Did I get a bad pump, or should I use a pump like an EP381?

Thanks!

Re: Bad fuel pump?

Well, on second inspection, looks like my pump wiring got too close to the exhaust and melted on the pipe, shorting out the circuit.

Guess my faith has been restored (somewhat) in my choice of pump

Re: Bad fuel pump?

The TPI pump isn't really the right pump, they run about 10 PSI or so less than what an LS engine runs, but for what its worth, I put one in my Nova when I swapped to the LS1 because the car had a TPI before. That was in 2000. The car still runs with it and the swap has over 130,000 miles on it.
