Re: 65 348

1/2 tons were only availible with 220hp 327 small blocks per the Chevrolet brochure. The bigger trucks i think a 348 was availible. I dont think you could custom oder a 348 in a 1/2 ton. Maybe dealer installed. But i wouldnt trust that unless an original receipt is provided saying a 348 was installed. What style valve covers does it have. The telltale "W" ? Got any pics?

Re: 65 348

Well, its not common for trucks. Maybe more common for older impalas. Probably not much of a market for them. Everybody seems to like the 396/427/454 big blocks. More common and probably cheaper to build than a "W" head block. You will have to do some research. Another site for chevy info is : chevytalk.org. There is a car/truck forum there as well.

Re: 65 348

the big trucks had them, but not 320hp that would be a car eng around 1960. a friend had a 61 impala with a 350hp 348 solid cam and 3-2's 456 gears a 4-sp. ran pretty good for a heavy car.

Re: 65 348

I found a couple of listings for c-20's -c-30's in 1965 that came with 348's. I know it was an optional engine in 63, which Im more familiar with. The other options in 63 wer 283, 327 and 409. I havn't seen a c-10 with the 348 or 409, but I have seen a few 63 c-20-30 that had them, although I cant verify if factory installed.

Re: 65 348

The following thread is the only reference I’ve ever seen to a possibly original 348 installation in a 60-66 truck:
