The Boss snagged this up for his collection of stuff I want to build but will never get around to to it collection. It is suppose to be a 26 Nash. It came in ascross the scales to be crushed!

Re: 1926 Nash ascross the scales

always makes one wonder why they hold on to them and then just turf them . one would think that after 85 years that there may be some value to it for someone

Crazy that someone would crush that.

Re: 1926 Nash ascross the scales

I'd prefer to see it in his "never get built" collection rather than getting squashed. I thought all the unrestored originals like that disappeared 40 years ago.

In the 1950’s my ex-in laws found what was thought to be a 1926 Nash 4 door abandoned on the property they recently purchased. There were several photos of my ex-wife standing on the running board and sitting in the back seat when she was about 3 years old. There were several other photos of all the men in the family dismantling the car and tossing it down an old well.

In the 1970’s we wanted to attempt recovery several times but it never happened. The property was eventually sold and now the old Nash resides under someone’s house.

Why, why would someone even consider scrapping that car? I have seen guys resurect cars way worse than that. That car definitely has a value far more than scrap price.

Re: 1926 Nash ascross the scales

most likely it was being kept by an old man, he died, and whomever cleared out his estate had no idea of the value of an old car.

I missed a 37 hudson coupe like that. I talked to the old man, he was in his 90's, and said it was the first car he ever bought, he took his honeymoon in it. no it was not for sale. A few years later I noticed it was gone, I asked the neighbors if they knew what happened to it.- he had died, his kids came from out of town to settle up the estate, they had the county haul off the old junk car....

We immerse ourselves daily in auto /truck (car guy) stuff.. so it is hard to realize that there are people out there that haven't a clue when it comes to autos. I am reminded of the guy that was asked what kind of car he drove, he responded " a blue one" he had no idea what it was , or what year it was... those kind of people would scrap a 26 nash.

Cool old find. And we think parts are hard to find for our trucks....Glad I dont have to find them for that. Amazingly enough, the glass all appears to be intact.

I was in line at a parts counter once many years ago, the older lady in front of me told the counterman she needed a tailpipe.

Counterguy: Yes M'aam, what kind of car?

Her: A Mercury.

Him: What kind of Mercury?

Her: A big blue one.

I too, have seen many good projects disappear because some old guy, who had been keeping it all his life, died and the kids came in and gave "that old junk car" to the scrapper.
