Single plane or dual plane.
I know all the stuff that has to be figured in while trying to decide what intake to run. Just looking for a simple answer. What do you use?

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
Your poll is like asking, why is the sky blue? Just fill in the basics like intended rpm range and used percentage. like 90% street to 10% strip...I have a small single plane on my motor now but will be upgrading to that composite one later this year.

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
It makes no sense to vote on something without even knowing a combination.
They both have their place on a given combo so there is no way to vote now without knowing....... Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
X2...that's like asking what kind of ammunition do you use in your Colt firearm, .45 acp or a 5.56 x 45 mm? Each has a specific application.

This is not about my combo. It is about what intake you are running on your pickup. Other words what you feel works best with your combo an your pickup. Other words if there are more votes for single plane that tells me that most trucks run good with a single plane even though there are still some what heavy. Since the single plane runs in the area of 3000 an over for the most part. If there are more dual planes. Then it's the other way. |

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
cant answer this w/o knowing application (say a light sports car or dune buggy vs old bog old heavy cadillac or SUV.... and if its a BBC, SBC, LSx, BBF, SBF, Hemi,
you get the point.

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
It dont matter about the damn weight. Its about the.engine. You dont throw a single plane on a motor that peaks at 5000 and you dont put a dual on a motor that peaks at 8500. Combo combo combo.
This thread is just pointless to me.. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
I USED a dual plane....now its an efi truck intake.
OK...........its REAL simple if you want to look at it that way. If doing much of anything except racing you want the dual plane. the single plane is worse at making power at lower rpm levels off idle to 2500-3500rpm...where a street car/truck lives. that same rpm range is where a single plane just starts to make power on its way to 6000, 7000 rpm, or more. street or street strip use...............dual plane. mean street/mostly strip/racing use..........single plane.

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
The first quote was for the responses I knew I would get. The second quote was asking what intake do you find that work the best on your individual truck More curisoty than anything. That is why I included both SBC an BBC in the poll. If you try not to read to much into it it is easier to understand. |

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
Umm lets see,, isn't a tunnelram with dual 4bbls a "dual single plane". LOL. Run one of those on the 66 and the only one of these 3 that is a race vehicle
a single plane GMPP Vortec TBI intake on the 383 TBI motor in the 94 4x4 and a single plane on the 327 MPFI motor in the El Camino (note,, EFI is single plane happy)

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
4150 single plain on the old 347 and same thing on the newer 418. Sure wish it had a dominator flange.

Re: Single plane or dual plane.
Brodix HVH single plane rec. port with a little cleanup on the red truck.
The 468 in the '72 has worked over 781 ovals with an out of the box Air Gap.
