What would you do???

I ran into a snag. I was fitting up my drivers side front cab support today after work and I realized something just after I got it finally trimmed up and ready to go....it's actually for the PASSENGER side. Once I realized it I was not happy to say the least. I'm at a dilema here now because I have 2 options...

1.) order the correct part, wait for it to come in, and repeat the process all over again

or

2.) just weld it in, and redrill the holes

So far the only difference I can tell between drivers and passenger side is on the part that mates up to the inner rocker, and even then the difference is 1 more hole on one side. Additionally there's a small hole that should be on the side facing to the rear of the truck. I'm not going for a perfect resto so a big part of me is saying just weld it in and make it work. The only thing I'd have to do to appease my inner perfectionist is to cut off the wings that mount to the inner rocker and weld on some new pieces that I can drill my own holes in. I'll probably also throw a quick patch over top of the hole that is now facing the front tire instead of towards the rear of the truck, only to keep crap out of it if nothing else.

what do you guys think? Just order the part or just make it work? One would cost me money and the other would just cost me a little bit of time since I have plenty of scrap metal around from my patch panel left overs to work with.

Re: What would you do???

I would get the correct part. You are only looking at a few days delay.

Re: What would you do???

Order the right part....you've done way to much work to the cab Mike to cut corners now.
