tailgate filler panel
Do i have to remove my old skin off my tailgate, or do i weld the filler panel right over it.

If your talking about the brushed aluminum piece that goes across the tailgate then probably yes. Fillers are supposed to be flush with the tailgate and the brushed panel is not flush. It removes with just 4 screws on the other side of the tailgate.

I have a feeling he bought a custom skin, like with no cove or embossed bowtie and handle relocator. In which case use your new skin as a template and remove the existing skin. You wont need to remove all of it, then weld in your new one. If you don't remove the old one the new one won't set flush and look right. You'll be very disappointed.

thanks guys!, yes i was taking about the steel panel itself, not the aluminum strip. how much do i need to cut out of the metal?
