What year 4L60E trans will work with 2010 5.3 motor

I just bought a complete 2010 5.3 motor minus transmission for my 68. Do I need to stick with finding the same year 2wd 4L60E trans or do other years interchange. Didn't want to buy an older trans and it not work with my computer or whatever might be different. Thanks!

Did your 5.3L have a 4L60E behind it orginally?
Any 98 & up LS 4L60E will bolt up.
Did you get the ECM, TCM, harness, pedal etc. etc.?

If it originally had a 4L60E...And you have the TCM, Your set to use any LS 4L60E/4L65E you want.

The T42 TCM that runs the 4L60E on GenIV engines looks like this.....

2010 would have had a 6-speed

Do yourself a favor and put regular lifters in it and get rid of the VLOM.

It came with the harness and pedal, etc. Just no trans. I found a couple 2010 2wd transmissions for a 5.3 with low miles for $900, I guess I will go that route. I probably should have done more research before I bought this motor!

If you can get a low mileage 2010 trans for$ 900 that's a good deal in my opinion. To have one rebuilt will be around a grand. I would jump on that.

Re: What year 4L60E trans will work with 2010 5.3 motor

The 2010 trans looks really big and I don't want to get into cutting up the tunnel. This is why I would like to run a 4L60E trans from like a 2006 or something. My question is can this be done and do I need to change the harness to the same year trans.

The 6L80E & 6L90E are pretty big, A 4L60E can be done, The harness will need ALOT of modifications....Its better to buy a harness for what your doing...
You will need a harness, A T42 TCM & have the ECM & TCM reprogrammed to work together.

John Spears at Speartech is very good at doing this http://speartech.com/
