You guys think this is worth it?

So this is on eB@y, its super close to me, and it would get my wife's 49 truck down on the ground. Does this sound like a good deal? Should I think about it?

Re: You guys think this is worth it?

That's a fair price, especially when you don't have to spend a whole day in a wrecking yard yanking one out of a car.

Those subframes are 150/250 around here and the rear ends usually go for 100-200 depending on which one it is. Then you add in the drive shaft and steering column. If you don't want to use the column it's worth a few bucks at a swap meet.

Expect to have to rebuild the front end as far as bushings and ball joints goes but you can cheat a bit there by getting the Moog Parts numbers off O'Reilly's and then doing an Ebay search for each part. A lot of people seem to be selling old stock Moog chassis parts at very friendly prices and a couple include shipping. I got a Moog K6135 Control arm shaft and bushings for my 71 for 14.95 shipping included in the mail yesterday. That piece would be 48.99 at the O'Reilly's here.

That is what I was thinking offer $200 any maybe he'll counter with $250 and save $50 for something else.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yep, That's a good price. Just pull the rear cover on the rear end and make sure that the pin through the spider gears doesn't have slop where it goes though the carrier. You might want to take along an coffee can and 1/2 inch socket and ratchet to do that so you have something to catch the grease. That would be the only thing I would really worry about on it.
