Air line routing

Looking for pics of air line routing with bag plates in stock front cross member. Paying interest to where you drilled holes for routing the lines. Not looking forward to drilling much less more than once. Thanks

Hey Sammy, I drilled mine in the side of the crossmember as pictured. Makes it real easy to run the airline. Still need to get a 1" grommet for the hole, the rubber line is just temporary.

x2. This is exactly where I drilled mine also, and put is inline with running the airline down the frame.

Appreciated. One inch? Are you running 3/8 or half inch line? I was thinking 3/4 inch would be good with a 3/8 line. Haven't put my drop spindles/ disk conversion in wondering about access to the air fitting, lines so forth. Also I am using stock upper n A lower arms.

perfect if you are not running a dropmember just make sure to protect those lines like you did....may not be the pretty stuff but better than a blown line....i use the Painless wrap for any rubber lines or wires, looks great,fits perfect, and is very protective...just an fyi and they sell frame kits, motor kits, etc. I did hardlines with mine so its very differen but protection with rubber gromets was a very important..great job on both.

Sure. Just dreading that drilling into the cross member. Drilling in the area for the plates is thinner looking than the area where you guys are talking. As it was I used 3 different size bits to get to 1/2 inch. Hope my step drill bit can hold up for those two holes too.

the step drill bit made by irwin works good for drilling through that thick metal. i used one to drill my bag mount holes in the frame. its like 40 bucks but well worth it.

just be REALY careful and make sure your drilling straight and not at an angle. its not pretty when that bit seizes up in the hole and spins the drill out of your hand, almost broke my wrist and finger like that when drilling with a regular drill bit.

I only drilled a 1" hole do to a 1" grommet is really easy to find. A 3/4" hole will also work good. I used a step bit to drill mine, was alot easier to drill that hole then the holes for the bag plates.

A good tip to remember the smaller the drill bit the higher the speed. Same goes with the larger bit, slow it down a little. If you start off with a 1/4" bit and work up from there it shouldn't be to hard on the bit. Also lighten up a little on the pressure so you don't burn the cutting edge off the drills to help them last.

It will be easier if you install a swivel fitting in the top of the airbag incase your through hole is slightly off. You can always put the bag up against the plate, slightly offset to the side, so the fitting lines up againt the outside of the chassis. That wull give you an idea of the heigth for the fitting hole, then find the center line where the air fitting goes through the mounting plate and cross it over.
