Newbie help. Do I ned to replace my carb?

As I was driving back from the hardware store yesterday I heard a loud clank come from the engine. Fortunately I was pretty close to home. The truck seemed to be driving fine, and when I got home I popped the hood and took this video.

Usually, gas dripping out like that is from the float in the carb bowl being "gas logged" and therefore not shutting off the gas when the bowl is full. Second choice would be something (dirt) stuck in the needle valve and not letting it close properly. Carb float is connected to the needle valve. Might need to rebuild the carb but not need a new one. What type of carb? The video looks like the linkage/choke look like clean and fairly new. Above all, don't drive it until you fix it---fire hazard!!!! (obviously). Good luck.

I had a shop dyno my 350 and had a new Edel 1405 carb. Had problems with my needle hanging up in its bore and would oveflow out the top and onto the manifold. He polished the needle with like some very fine sandpaper and no trouble after that.

Heres a question: Do you know where the leak is exactly?

Thanks bonacker. It's an edelbrock 1406. It looks like a rebuild kit is only around $30. Is it simply taking the carb apart cleaning it up and replacing the parts that are included in the kit?

Nope. Only what you can see in the video.

Well before you take the carb completely apart, you have to know where the leak is. Take the air cleaner off and run it again to see.

Becareful tho of the fire danger of course.

Just be very careful when you put the top back on that style carb you dont have the metering rods installed or you are guarenteed to bend them. Put the rods ib last after the top is on..
