Sorry I haven't been around in a while I had to go play with the Iraqi's! Now that I'm home I just picked up the new issue of TRUCKIN and they are building a 69? C-10. They started out by fabbing a new box steel frame which got me thinking. How hard would it be to build one yourself? Has anyone seen one built or had experience building something like this? Or would it be easier to order one from a company? Any ideas? I am pretty good with a welder and all the math that would be required to do something like this. It would definitely be pretty high on the cool factor.

First of all, thanks for all you did overseas.

Second, we built a 4-link suspension for my truck. It was fairly easy because my friend has a shop with good tools. The biggest issue was measurements. We kept a "bible" of everything done on the rear. I would seriously look into an Art Morrison or Chris Alston chassis. By the time you figure in the cost of materials, time, etc, it may be cheaper to buy it than build it. I am considering switching to one of their chassis to gain more clearance, it still is not low enough. Hope this helps.

I am doing a custom frame for mine. The front was ordered from Art Morrison and the rest was built in the shop. If you want mandrel bends then some one like Morrison can fix you up. Jim Meyer Raceing and Turner Enterprises offer complete frames. Those are just two that I know of. That article made it look fairly simple didn't it. I think it is a little more involved than that but if you have the skills go for it. This pic is not very good.

Thanks for the input guys! The Jim Meyer stuff is crazy expensive but you get what you pay for. The Chris Alston stuff might be the way to go. Brad2 thats a nice frame your building I hope whichever way I go it comes out looking like that. What type of bed modification will you have to do with that amount of step up?
Any info you have would be appreciated!

I love my Herc! They are a lot like old Chevy trucks. They might break down every once in a while but they're fun to drive and always get the job done!
In Afghanistan and in Iraq we amazed a lot of people by our capabilities and flexibility. We left Cherry Point about 20 hours after getting the call to go and were running missions into northern Iraq in about 48 hours. The airforce wouldn't go near some of the places we were going into. One of our sister squadrons were landing planes on a section of Iraqi highway so they could offload gas for all those vehicles heading to Baghdad.
All in all it was a good time and a chance to flex our muscle.

That's gotta be a great feeling when you were instrumental in the total mission.

I was a squid in Norfolk/ VA. Beach 89-94, and remember stopping by Cherry Point to give a ride to Marines to: Desert Storm, Somalia, Boznia, and Haiti. Y'all are some good people to have met.

United we are strongest.
