Airride suspension

Hey all , got a few questions for ya and any help or guidance will be very appreciated. First off i own a 91 shortbed c1500 and the suspension has never been touched and im wanting to lower it and i dont think that a regular 4/6 drop will be what i want here , tbh i want it slammed with some 22's tucked real nice. Ive been reading up a bit on 4 link systems and airbag kits and need some advice on possible kits to look at. Can i bag my truck without using a 4 link setup? And which kits do you reccomend me use? Anyway ty n advance for your help

Re: Airride suspension

You can bag your truck without using a 4-link, but I would recommend it. It will ride better than an air-over-leaf setup and you won't have axle wrap.

Check out KP Components, as they have bolt-on 4-link and 6-link kits, as well as components to bag the front. RideTech is another company that offers a bolt-on system.

If interested in the RideTech, we can help you out there since we offer their products.

Re: Airride suspension

Thats just what i wanted , ty much. Got one more question and i think i should be on a good path then. Ive seen some bagged trucks that the wheels in the front look like there maybe out of alignment somewhat and not straight up and down. Is there a kit for the front end that will help keep it aligned or is this something that cant be helped?

Re: Airride suspension

Aftermarket arms will help with that, as they correct the geometry through the cycle of the suspension. Some trucks using stock arms get more negative camber than others. Both KP Components and RideTech offer a-arms for your truck.

The RideTech Level 2 comes with arms.

Depending on your ability, you can also piece a system together (air management & suspension components) and save some money. You can get a universal 4-link kit and weld it all on yourself.

If you want to tuck a wheel that big i would get control arms and notchless tie rods from http://michiganmetalworks.com/store/ with his control arms it will lay out better,But you'll have to buy the air bags the upper bag mount and shock relocators too.

I read up on it a bit and i dont want to have to notch the frame no more then i have too so the tie rods sound like a winner here and i also like the control arms as well , I plan on buying the RideTech Level 1 kit and pairing it with these control arms and notchless tie rods. Any suggestions there? Also have another question for the rear end , sorry for alot of questions but before i sink alot of doe in this i like to do a bit of research so here it goes. Would you reccomend a bigger step notch or would a regular c notch be sufficient and why please?

Re: Airride suspension

If you are looking to lay the frame on the ground, and plan on using the step notch, I would suggest going with KP components 4 or 6 link then. If you go with RideTech kit, you will be getting parts that you won't be using, like the c-notch.

In this case, I think you might be better piecing together a system.

Re: Airride suspension

If you want to lay frame it will take a notch and the kp components is your best bet for the rear,The ride tech rear will get you pretty low but won't let you lay frame. Also look at http://www.avsontheweb.com/home.php i believe hes a vendor on here so you can get a discount too.
