1972 front suspension
Hey guys I need all the help/advice I can get! I am replaceing the upr and lwr cross shafts,upr and lwr ball joints,inner and outer tie rods, idler link, pittmen arm and coil springs. Any pictures and advice I can get would help. Thanks Alex

a bfh (big f'n hammer) and some wd-40.
or if you have access to a ball joint pickle fork.

Make sure you get th drag link put back in the correct orientation. It's easy to get in back wards.

I've got to replace an upper ball joint and cross shaft on my 71 3/4 ton this morning so I'll try to take a few photos.
I agree with Orngsikl (had to read that twice) in that a bfh is your best friend here. |

Do one side at a time. that way if you forget how it goes, you can still look at the other side. then leave center link and idler for last once you have arms and splindles back on.

Thanks for the info guys. I am having a problem with the outer tie rod right now. Seems the cone bolt that fits into the spindle is too short I can't get the cotterpin hole. I got the tie rod from lmc and I am going to NAPA today and see what they have.

I got my cross shafts and everything else that I can off of Amazon. I personally like MOOG better than other brands and they are a fraction of the price on Amazon as they are at NAPA for the very same parts. NAPA was asking 64 dollars for one single cross shaft (the smaller one even) and from Amazon 26 bucks, no tax and no shipping! And be sure you grease them well. Otherwise they turn to rusted dust a lot sooner.
