installing a T700 need some help
Hi guys,
I want to install a T700 in-place of my T400 because of my gas milage. Can anyone tell me what is involved. I already have the T700 It came out of a chevelle so it should bolt up, the box is rated to 600+hp, it has a lock up converter and all the cables/hoses that go with it. Do you need to cut the cross member, how does it mount, will the linkages fit straight on to the column shift or do I need an adaptor, etc??? I tried searching the site for info but couldnt find what I wanted, did I miss it? Its a 72 2WD 3/4T 454ci Thanks in advance!

Re: installing a T700 need some help
Been a while since I did mine, but from what I remember the linkage worked fine and I used the same cross member Just had to drill new holes in the frame to mount it further back. You will probably need a different driveshaft (longer) at least I did. You will also need something to make the converter lock up. There are many different ways to do it and you can find info on a search here, but I went with the painless wiring lock up kit, it was super easy to install and comes with a new lock up solenoid and brake switch. One last thing you will need a bracket to mount your TV cable, I think I used an Edelbrock one that I purchased from Suimmit racing, it bolted to the intake and had provisions for the TV cable as well as the throttle cable. Thats what I remember, there are probably more knowledgeable people here on the subject, but maybe this will get you started.

Use the Google search box at the top of the page but type in 700r4 instead of T700. Then click in the circle in front of 67-72chevytrucks.com and click on the "Google" button. LockDoc
