Two Fuel Tanks???

My Blazer has two fuel tanks (see the round hole just behind the driver door). It has a toggle (I think it's the toggle at least) that switches the tanks installed between the two front seats on the floor.

Was this an option from GM? It looks like it was added later.

Anyone know where to buy a larger tank that drops in place without much hassle?

thats was not an option. totally a po install. i believe the larger burb tanks will fit with out alot of mods.

Northwest Metal Products (NMP) makes a 37 gallon tank that replaces the stock unit. I run one in my Blazer. Comes with proper fuel sending unit to keep the stock fuel gauge working right.

Looked on LMC 67-72 seem to only have 21 gal. Do happen to know what year burb fits best? I think I found them... 1973 - 1993? 25, 31 or 40 gal.

cleszkie - are you happy with that NWP tank? it fit up in the undercarriage alright and what not? thinkin about upgrading to a larger tank...especially cause i think the factory one i have has a bunch of gunk in the bottom lol

I was just talking with someone the other day who knew the guy who ran/runs NMP, and she said he has always been REAL proud of his work. That must be why their tank is 3-4 times the price of a stock replacement. I really want the extra capacity, but not for that price. Unfortunately, I think it's the only one that is a direct fit with no modifications to the tank or crossmember locations. You could always have a custom one made, but I bet it would cost as much as the NMP units.

Yes, custom is MUCH more than the NMP unit, and it wouldn't be 37 gallons either (at least not the custom ones I've been looking into). I've been digging into this for quite some time now as I want to upgrade my fuel system to an intank pump for the fuel injection with enough to support 600+ hp. Custom tank and fuel system is going to set me back $1500+

The NMP unit is the way to go if you want the extra capacity too. Once you start pricing out the custom stuff, $600 is chump change, and I like the idea of having 37 gallons vs 20-25. Long road trips are the norm for us and fewer stops at the go juice station is nice

I've got three tanks on mine. The two Hickey side tanks are in the bed behind the rear wheel wells. The fuel feeds from one first then draws from the other. There is a switch to go from the main to the aux.

I don't use the extra tanks. they are basically empty (some fuel sloshing around in them). Being in-city all the time I really don't need that much gas and the fuel gauge doesn't work with the aux. tanks.
