Clutch linkage adjustment Q
The bellcrank pivot ball on the block of my 67 k-20 snapped ! got the stub out and put a new pivot ball in. I'm thinking it snapped maybe because the adjustable-length rod might not have been set right ?
I'm wondering how much play should be in the adjustable rod that goes between the bellcrank and the throwout fork. Thanks alot. |

Re: Clutch linkage adjustment Q
I have about 1" pedal clearance before the push rod/fork begins to engage the throwout bearing. If you're snapping the pivot ball there's something else involved. Maybe it's too tight or there's a problem with the pressure plate/throwout bearing.

Re: Clutch linkage adjustment Q
Pivot ball shaft had sheared at the block side, piece of the stud was stuck in the block way down there. Couldn't get a drill or "EZ out" on it. So took a dremel with tiny carbide ball on it and put dimples in the flat face of the sheared-ff stud, 4 dimples equidistant from each other by 90 degrees. Took carpenter's punch and made a point on it with grinder, then went down there and reversed-out the broken stud piece from the hole by inserting punch point into dimples and hitting lightly with small hammer. Voila.
Then, fabricated a holding bracket out of a thick washer I bent and cut to hold the clutch ball pivot that's mounted to the frame in a more linear arrangement with the new one I put into the block, then filled the bellcrank with grease till it was oozin.
