What Headers clear? Lifted 4x4 BBC...

I have a 1986 Chevy K30 454 BBC with approximately 6 inches of lift... one of those inches being a body lift. My dad built a 83 from the ground up.... it was a k20 with about 6 inches of lift but the headers he got are WAY too close to the springs for my taste as I drive my truck too hard and I know they would end up hitting.

I know I've read a thread on here about headers specifically for lifted 4x4 BBC trucks... but I CANNOT find it for the life of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! THANKS GUYS

Re: What Headers clear? Lifted 4x4 BBC...

My last K30 factory 454 truck had Hooker Super Comps and then I put Stan's Tri-y headers on it. The hookers actually fit better. Unless you get a set of shortys or mid-lengths the collector will be close to the spring shackle on the front springs. Honestly unless the collector is touching the shackle or it bolts you shouldn't have a problem

Re: What Headers clear? Lifted 4x4 BBC...

I'm willing to spend around $500 (in the ballpark) so if shorty's are the best way to go, by all means I'll do that. But I wanna make sure I'm nowhere near the springs. I'm running 3 inch polished stainless all the way from the collector out so the collector has to be 3 inch... but I'm likely going to have that made and purge weld it in. I know I've read on here a long tube header that people reccomend, but can't find it. I'd really appreciate it if someone could chime in here and help me out! I'll go the shorty route if that isn't going to affect performace but I just figured I'd be putting long tubes on... anyone....

I have Sanderson BB8's on my BB 2wd. They are 3/4 length. They clear great on my 2x4 and I can't imagine them getting anywhere near your springs on a 4x4. You might give them a call and see what they say.
