79 Blazer, power rear window
The power rear window in the 1979 Blazer I just acquired does not work either by the key switch or the dash switch. Luckily, the window is up. I need to check for power to the motor. Is there a fuse or relay that's just for this window, and if so, where are they? Also, are there any position limit switches in the tailgate? Lastly, who sells the tailgate power window motor for this vehicle?

about all i can tell u is 1st check all the fusses in ur fuss block if that aint it then the motor/regulator are in the tailgate if its like my 74 u should have an access panel on the inside of your tailgate. now if thats the case what u want to do is take the hard top off carefully (dont break the glass lol) so that u can lower the tailgate to work on it easier. check all your wires and connections(from the tailgate all the way to the switch) if thats all good then u got a bad motor/regulator(if the motor and regulator are one unit u'll need to replace the whole thing if seperate u just need a new motor id say) i hope i was some help good luck

If you aren't in too big of a hurry to get the parts for your Power Tailgate Window, one of the guys that I work with is retiring, stripping and scrapping his 80 because of rust. I asked him to give me the entire tailgate if he has no use for it. I'll tear out the power window parts and ship them to you when he gets it to me. George

It may just be the cable. I had to replace the one on my 85 K5. Can you hear the motor turning when you hit the switch? Take the cable out and then hit the switch.

If you fill out your location, that might help a little. For instance, I have a full power tailgate just taking up space. If you were close to me, I would offer it to you. You would have to bring me a soda as payment for it.
Oh the power of the search button. You are a little far to drive over & pick this thing up. Last edited by *MJF*; 05-22-2003 at 11:51 AM. |

My tailgate
I have not had an opportunity to dig inot this non-functional power window issue yet. There is no noise at all when I activate the tailgate key switch, or the dash switch. My location is suburban Buffalo, NY.
