Re: Interesting Truck

You've never seen a truck with the rail attachments? I don't even live close to any tracks and have seen dozens of them going down the rails. It's cool to see them mount and dismount with them.

Nope, I live out in county part where we have no rail system really and I am rarely in city for anything. Our stores are either in county or the outskirts of the city so there is no real need to go into the city.

At least you don't have to worry about buying tires or flats.

Re: Interesting Truck

The tires actually still power the truck down the track. The steel wheels lock down and do not raise the truck up off the tracks, the tires still have to make contact to propel it. Most of the newer ones I've seen are 4x4's for some reason.

Lethal Weapon 3 had one in it, if you can go back to your memory archive that long ago.

That's what I though but in the video he has posted it looks like the wheels on the actual truck only touch a couple of times so I wasn't for sure.

Re: Interesting Truck

Here we have a big csx yard so i see trucks like that daily but most are a lot newer.A 4x4 would work better in the hills and in the winter,The rails are steel and nice and smooth so its slick i bet.

Re: Interesting Truck

Yeah, there are lots of those conversions up here (even on new trucks too) that run the tracks to check them.

I wonder how fast they could get going while on the tracks??

Re: Interesting Truck

I've seen tons of these but this is the first one I've ever seen forsale that still has all the equipment attached for the general public to buy. Actually I am shocked. All it takes is one drunk to get ahold of that and hit a train head on. I'm betting there are laws just for this. Certainly it's happened before

Re: Interesting Truck

They probably didn't think about that, and when that exact scenario plays out and they turn around and get sued they'll more than likely not do it again.

Sure makes me curious. I've seen them change hands through municipalities with all equipment, but this puppy is on ebay for anyone to buy?

I'd have to believe there will be someone dumb enough to use it after a few beers I can easily see the temptation.

I just can't picture Johnny Law wanting something like this in public hands. But, who knows....

Well it says the truck is in the midwest, now I live in the midwest and people don't really care what happens until after someone gets killed doing something. Actually if you get small enough town you'll get the cops joining in with your "great idea".
