Any tips on prepping and painting a grille that already painted?

Wipe down with some prep cleaner. Get yourself some gray 3M Scotchbrite pads and scuff it. Then reclean it with the prep cleaner. I've done this before with grilles and headlight bezels. It work good. Actually, it works for anything really.

I agree. Just did the grill and headlight bezels on my '84 as redsled87 said and looks great. Just be careful. It takes a little while but well worth it. I took the old tape off of the grill with a heat gun and sanded and primed and then painted it the color of your truck or your color choice.

Yeah I wasn't thinking about the color in the middle. Mine was the cheap bare bones model. I did however, do the grille black and silver. I've got pics somewhere if anyone is interested.

Re: Prep and painting a grille
How does one go about buffing the grille after the clear? Mines a 93. alot of spaces kinda tight to get a buffer in there.

Re: Prep and painting a grille
Its gonna suck no matter what. You can get a small air buffer to get into tight spaces with. But youl never get into all those corners...
