Wood floor Blazer
Is a Blazer rear bed the same length and width as a SWB truck? Has anyone seen a wood bed done on a Blazer? Any posts or pictures would be great. I have been searching to avail. Thanks!

I believe that they are the same width, but the length is about 6 inches shorter for the Blazers. The only reason I know that is because I am looking to swap out my rusted and beat up bedsides with ones from a SWB and have been told that I will have to cut 6 inches off of it to make it work. I would be really interested to see how a wood bed looks in a Blazer. That could look really good.

I'd be worried about mounting a backseat to a wood floor. In the event of an accident, I wouldn't think the wood strips would be solid enough to keep the back seat inside the truck.
If you don't plan on running a back seat, it could be nice looking. Is there enough support to mount the body to the frame and handle the flex a blazer gets?

Jaros44sr would be the one to help the most since he's done it, but just off the top of my head I believe you have to have pickup cross rails which allow for the thickness of the wood? Then the area where the bed mounts to frame? I think that the metal backing plate under the bed floor will help with the back seat as it covers such a wide area across bed. Does look cool!

If it were me, I'd just do a false wood floor and not deal with the headache of cutting out my old one.

jaros44sr What kit did you get? What page on your build do you detail the install of your floor? I am looking at a Blazer without a bed floor. I am thinking that the wood would be really cool and easier than replacing with metal. If I were to install a rear seat I would put in extra bracing under the floor and use some larger grade eight hardware. Thanks for the input guys.

Hey guys. Usually its where the seat bealts anchor and not the seats that protect you in an accident. Either way i think that wood floor looks nice.

It looks great!. I don't even own a Blazer yet. I am looking at one with out a bed floor in it. It is about 14 hours away and don't know how to economically get it home. I was kicking around the idea of pre cutting some plywood and loading up some tools and renting a car? My wife thinks I'm nuts.
