unwanted lights
When we turn the headlights on , the turn signal lights in dash come on. I have checked all the outside bulbs , could it be the flasher? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: unwanted lights
Sounds like maybe a ground issue, or lack of.

Re: unwanted lights
done any work on the cluster?
check cluster board, shifted around the socket at turn markers? either that or is the cluster plug loose/off centred from the copper strips? but grounds back there work wonders for other isses too

Re: unwanted lights
I`ve checked the bulbs, grounds and everything else I can think of. I guess next I`ll take out each bulb and check for corrosion.

Re: unwanted lights
Grounds... I added an additional ground to one of my tailights, and all my problems went away.

Re: unwanted lights
So just clip a norther ground to the main ground wire and just bolt it to the frame?

Re: unwanted lights
I went into the light and ran a ground to a clean spot on the frame.
Prior to that, might lights were dim and when I put a signal light on they both would flash slowly..sometimes they just wouldn't work at all. |

Re: unwanted lights
I had a problem with the right side signals not workin with the running lights, so I replaced all the bulbs with l.e.d replacement bulbs and now the left side is giving the same problem as ur saying, the dash signal light stays on and doesn't make the lights flicker

Re: unwanted lights
Are the arrows in the dash super bright like they would be if they were flashing properly? or kind of dim and glowing?

Re: unwanted lights
Everything seems normal outside the truck. brake lights, lights and turn signals. But inside once the headlights are on the two turn signal lights constantly stay lit and don`t flash with the blinkers. With the headlights off everything is normal inside and out.

Re: unwanted lights
I sorta have the same problem except just the right blinker in the dash comes on when I turn the parking lights on.
Haven't found the cause yet, but I am gonna check or run some new grounds

Re: unwanted lights
Mine started as everything worked but the right front turn signal had a connection problem and the back one always stayed fully lit with the driving lights and headlights on but with. Them off everything worked fine but the front turgnal because of connection problems, so I got new led replacement bulbs and now the right side works fine but now the left side doesn't work with the signals, the brake light works and the front signal running light works but no signal and the indicator on the dash stays dimly lit

Re: unwanted lights
I just delt with this last night on my 68. One of the screws that went through the printed circuit for a ground was missing. I replaced the screw and all is good.

Re: unwanted lights
It pretty much has to be a bad ground causing things to backfeed the indicators. Pull the connectors on the bulbs and test the grounds with a multimeter. You should get 1/2 ohm or less between the ground terminal in the socket and the - battery post. If it's more than 1/2 an ohm trace the circuit all the way back to the battery. Anywhere it's bolted to the frame or body should be unbolted, cleaned, and reattached.
Edit: Start testing on the head light connectors, but do the turn signals and tail lights too. |

Re: unwanted lights
Headlight switch or flasher. Anything else on the circuit? Maybe jump the bulbs from the inst. Panel to the headlight switch? If you bypass the flasher with a wire to the headlight switch its probably not the switch.
