'87 rear end into a '60
can someone give me some info on the swap?is it a bolt in or will it take some modifying?any help will be appreciated.buckshot.

A '60 C10 or C20 will have a coil-sprung rear suspension with trailing arms. An '87 will have leaff springs. No, the 87 rear-end is not a bolt-in.
In the event you have a C30, K10, or K20.... *I think* an '87 1-ton rear end will bolt in - but the shock mounts will be wrong. (Only one shock will bolt up.)

u2slow is right, an 87 will not bolt right in without modifying your frame. The coil suspension is a great type if you want a street truck. I would get a 67 thru 72 rear coil suspension rear end will bolt right up. I used a 72 rear in my 64 with a 3.08 gear for crusing. You will have to use the track arm from the donor truck, but the swap is very easy. Have fun.

Chevy duty sells a rear end conversion kit that will bolt that 87 into your truck, it is 139.95 part # 93-313 on page 69. It comes with the trailing arm axle seats, adjustable track bar, and weld on track bar mounting brackets. You cut off the 87 brackets and weld on the new brackets from the kit, then bolt her into your truck.

The '70 to '72 is a little narower than the earlier ones, like 3/4 inch...maybe an inch.
Also, '71 they went to 5 lug. And to be 100% correct, you should have a 3.07, not a 3.08, those are car gears. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350.
