Best Brakes for towing?

I need to know what other people are doing for front break upgrades when towing ?

I have a 51 chevy truck with a Mustang 2 front end 11" rotors and larger calipers and now i will be towing a 53 camp trailer that I bought(weighs 2300 pounds). I have 20" wheels on my truck and it already seems like I could use more brakes.

What would be the best big break kit for my situation?

Are your 11" rotors the separate rotor/hub or the 1 piece ones? What style are the calipers? What do you have on the rear of the truck for brakes?

I would try to add brakes to the trailer too. I think that would be your best all around option.

The rotors/hubs are one piece and the calipers are single piston Ford Granada I think ( A kit from Speedway Motors). The rear is a 72 Nova drum brake

The problem you are going to run into is that any better brakes will be a hub and rotor setup with multi-piston calipers, which normally means $$. Since it's a Speedway kit it might be the best option to ask them what your options are and see what fits your budget.

Thanks, for your advise . I am thinking the expensive kit may be the way to go. I am just not sure which one is the best fit for my needs

I've never heard anyone complain about having "too much brake". IMHO, buy as big as you want to pay for. Besides, it looks sexy behind big rims.

Does the trailer have surge brakes on it? If not I'd get those first.
