Rear end question?
I bought a 67 Chevy parts truck yesterday someOne decided to try to chOp it but totally messed it up. Anyways it's five lug disc on front and a 12 bolt rear end under it. I know the front end will work but I think the rear end came out of a 70-72 which is longer. What will need to be taken into consideration to make this rear end fit my truck? Thanks in advance

Re: Rear end question?
If the rear end has the 5 lug wheel bolt pattern, it is likely a '71-'82 truck 12 bolt. Those are 1.5" wider than the early '70 and earlier rear ends. There is the possibility that the rear end is an original '67 and someone installed the 5 lug conversion axles. You didn't say what year truck you are working on, but if it is a '65 or '66, then it should bolt is without issue. If it is a '63 or '64, then the panhard bar bracket on the frame is at a slightly different angle. The panhard bar can be bent slightly to accomodate. If your truck is a '60-'62, then the trailing arm mounts will need to be moved out, but the '65-'72 panhard bar will be too short, and the '60-'64 panhard bar will be too long. So a custom panhard bar will be needed.
