How do you get a woody?

I'm talking about a woody truck, you perverts. We all know they were available. What else do we know about the woody option? I have been looking through my 73-87 truck brochures, and I have yet to see it even mentioned.

Any of you guys have any hard facts about the option? I mean real stuff, not your cousin-in-laws step brother told you. Lets see what we know...

1. The option was available on Burbs and Blazer 73-80 Burbs
got "Estate" badge
2. The option code is YG2
3. What trim level was dictated by the option.
4. It was available on Blazer, Burb's 73-80
5. It was available on P/U's 73-75
6. What are the colors (names or codes) it came in?

This should be enough to get things started....

Woodgrain

The woodgrain "Woody-lookalike" was a vinyl applique similar to contact paper but heavier thickness. I believe GM started putting it on around 1968 and up to 1978. You could get it with just about any color combo, on any p/u, Suburban, or Blazer. I believe it had to be a Cheyenne, or Silverado level. Maybe Scottsdale too.
The woodgrain came in two shades, light and dark depending on the paint color. Not sure what the option code was.

I went out and looked at the sticker in the glovebox. It reminded me that my truck used to pretty cool. It is a 74 Cheyenne Super. YG2 is the option for the wood grained exterior. It used to be Rosedale red with a white top.

I looked through the literature I have and came up with woodgrain was available on Blazers and Suburbans as option YG2 from 73-80 (it also gave a suburban an "Estate" badge) and on pickups also as YG2 but only from 73-75.

It is mentioned specifically in the pickup brochures from 73-75. The dealer albums don't mention any required options other than you couldn't get it with two tone paint since it would conflict to say the area between the body moldings would be a different color AND have a sticker on it. The woodgrain exterior treatment also included the bodyside moldings if they weren't already a part of some other option package that you had ordered.

Thanks

Re: How do you get a woody?

Bringing an old thread back. Any pictures of Woody Duallys? ANY trim model could be ordered in the pickups 73-75 as long as YG1 option was ordered.
Seen plenty of Blazers and Burbs and a few half tons but no duallys. Some one somewhere must have a picture of one.
