P1336 code

Getting this now on my 01' 5.3l. Not sure why it waited 150 miles to pop up but it won't even clear with an AutoXray scanner. Tried googling this but basically came up with these options...

1. Pay GM at least $100 to do a CASE relearn with a Tech II
2. Spend $600 to get HPtuners or EFILive and do it myself, though it might or might not actually work
3. Buy a $3000 OTC Genesis scanner to do it.

Does this sound right? Any other options? I was really hoping there was a handheld tuner out there somewhere that I could use but none of them seem to have CASE learn options. Seems like a ton of money on a 5 minute fix. If anyone has a better idea please let me know. Thanks...Mike

Re: P1336 code

Spend the $150 for the HPT credits and have an HPT tuner in your area do it. At least thats what I'd recommend. Heck if you've ever had it accessed in HPT you arlready payed for the credits, so you just need to kick the tuner some coin for 20min of his time.

Re: P1336 code

You can definitely turn the code off with HP tuners. I tried to run the case learn with HP tuners, and I believe that would work with the 01. I have an 05 and I couldn't get it to work. So I took it to GM and they couldn't do it either. The issue for me is that the computer has to know that the e-brake is on before it will run the case learn. But the e-brake is connected to the body control computer.....

Re: P1336 code

Wish the guy that set my ecm up thought that far ahead and took the code out when he took out the emmisions stuff. Of course that was an ebay guy about two years ago. Is HP easy to use? I don't know squat about tuning and would be afraid to mess it up. I live about 30 minutes from Ed Wright Auto (Fastchip) and have emailed them about this, waiting on a response. It's possible for the same kind of money I can get a performance tune at the same time.

Re: P1336 code

From what I understand, most of the dyno tuners in OK get a bad wrap. I'm not exactly sure why, but everyone I've talked to drives over to DFW to get their dyno tunes.

Re: P1336 code

I have this code also. There are a couple of pins that can be grounded to fake the brake signal. Someday I'll get around to doing mine.
