2/4 drop on 08 GMC Sierra

I am considering a 2/4 drop with 20" wheels on my 2008 GMC. Is there any one out there with that drop combo that can post up some pictures before I spend the money

Thanks
Mike

Any suggestion not wanting it to sit on the tires but look real nice. I also don't want to go bigger than 20" wheels

Re: 2/4 drop on 08 GMC Sierra

I put a McGaughy's drop on my 2011 GMC SWB. It is a 4/6 drop with a slightly smaller diameter tire on 20" rims. I went from the factory tires to a 265/50/20 tire and they fit real well. The only tight spots were in the plastic front fender wells. I cut the top out of the plastic liners and opened up the area to the metal fender behind it. No issues with ride or driving, just the front plastic liners rubbing on heavy road bumps. This picture is the factory 20" wheels, I have now changed it over to a set of Akuza wheels.

Re: 2/4 drop on 08 GMC Sierra

Thanks for the reply and you do have a nice truck. After doing some measuring and seeing some other trucks, I think I want to go with a 3/5 drop instead of the 2/4. The tires and wheels that I will be installing has 285/50/20 on them. The diameter on them is about the same as the 275/55/20. Do you think they will rub to bad at 3/5?

Re: 2/4 drop on 08 GMC Sierra

The 275/55/20 on my truck was right up against my liners, so the ssmaller tires were installed. My luck, was that the tires on my truck only had 500 miles on them, so the dealer gave me a good deal in the trade. I think that you will be awful close with your size choice in tires. The 285/50 tires are 31.22 inches in diameter, the 275/55 tires are 31.91 inches in diameter, and the 265/50 tires are 30.43 inches in diameter. I can see what the differences are in height, and one thing that you should consider, a slightly shorter tire will increase your low end torque.

I believe that you will end up rubbing the fender liners, but it may not be all that bad. I run my truck down the highway at normal speeds for my area, but when I hit some pavement approaches to certain bridges, I do rub my fender liners a little.

Nice truck! I am really considering going with the 3/5 now but I am going to have to get some smaller tires first.
