Quote:
On July 4th 1776 the US through the declaration of independence gained independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. It was in the battle of 1812 (USA vs. UK, a battle intended for one thing to prevent the US from trading with France) when Upper & Lower Canadians fighting alongside British soldiers successfully thwarted the US attempt to take over Upper Canada (essentially southern Ontario), and lower Canada (essentially Quebec). Canada and the Us have a much storied, and sometimes violent history. I feel that we are like brothers who grew up fighting like the dickens (what my Mom use to say), and now that we have grown up share a bond that is, while not always perfect, can never be broken. So, happy birthday big brothers!!! Many happy returns!!!

Re: Happy 4th of July
Craigrrr, I doubt that 10% of Americans know that story. They might of heard about the war but don't know the why.

Re: Happy 4th of July
CRGRS 66, at least we all get along now and more so due to the current weapons we all posses. We're (Army) supposed to come up and hang out with some Canadians later this year. Should be fun to train with your Army some!

Re: Happy 4th of July
Awesome! Over the course of history Canadian soldiers have proven to be the fiercest at times... Vimy Ridge, Juno Beach, I could go on... Probably why we love such a violent sport like Hockey!
