08-present impala rear seat with the fold flat option(bottom half flips forward). Fits perfect over thestock seat frame riser. I would get the headrests removed and you have to make a bracket to retain the upper half but fits nice and decent seating position with little work.

Re: has anybody ueed a seat other than stock in the stock AD frame
I have the bucket seats out of a 64 Impala SS in my truck and they are mounted to the stock frame. All I can say is don't go that route. They are too thick and with the frame pushing them out ferther I lose too much leg room. I got them for nothing so I'm not out any money but if you buy something check the thickness of the backrest. If I ever pulled my tank out of the cab and made a new seat mount they'd work.

Re: has anybody ueed a seat other than stock in the stock AD frame
I got a bench seat of a late 80s chevy truck, fits real nice. Its a few inches longer than the original which causes it to go right up to the door when the door is closed but doesnt cause any issues. The top of the seat is a tight fit but it does and once you push it back,it holds it in firm. The seat has four mounts on each corner and bolts onto the original frame almost perfectly.

I have a parts truck so I am going to swap my extra short box to a friend of my dad's in exchange for some parts. He has quite a few of these trucks so a decent factory seat is on my list of parts to swap for. They look nice reupholstered. |

Re: has anybody ueed a seat other than stock in the stock AD frame
If you have the original springs they can usually be rebuilt by a competent upholstery person.
In a stock cab it's hard to beat the comfort of a stock seat that has been redone right. The most comfortable my 48 ever was was after Bobby Russel of Waco redid the stock seat in true roll and pleats. If you were closer I have an extra seat that's in good shape that isnt doing anything except taking up space. |

I striped the seat down and took the burlap off the springs and scrapped all the cotton pads to get rid of the mousey smell. I am really not that far along on the build, just at the throwing idea at the wall to see what sticks |

Re: has anybody ueed a seat other than stock in the stock AD frame
Im down in New Zealand so dont have the same access to US domestic vehicles to get seats from. My problem with the factory 48 seat was that Im too large (220lbs) and the seat didnt go back far enough. So we figured the hassle was the gas tank so got another and mounted it up under the bed.
Turned out the real issue wasnt the gas tank location, but the rear seat frame. So we removed the seat and fitted one from a Mitsubishi L300 van, as they are commonly found in wrecking yards and cost close to nothing. The summary from my mate who fitted it is as follows: L300 Seat is in . I have set it up on the factory Chev Sliders and made it swing forward . The back folds down onto the base and then you pull a lever and it all swings forward towards the steering wheel . I set it up this way so that you can get access to check brake fluid, and also for storage , good place to hide a first aid kit , fire extinguisher and even a little trolley jack & Tool kit . I’ve got to finish up the two catches that lock the rear of the base down yet , but at this stage we’ve gained 4” between the steering wheel and the seat back . I’m picking when I’ve done the catches it’ll drop back to 3.5” . The Stock fuel tank is still in there too! It has also got your ass lower in relation to screen height , I noticed in the stock seat you were almost inclined to “ stoop “ so should be more comfortable for you now . Seat base rises as it comes forward so should still be comfortable for Rowena to drive as well . When I figure how to get the photos off my phone, I will put them up here. |

Re: has anybody ueed a seat other than stock in the stock AD frame
a lot of good ideas. Seats are the wheels if the interior. If they don't look right it can blow the looks of the whole interior. I think that makes it harder than picking wheels as you don't have to sit on them.

It does fold forward but hits the steering wheel before folding all the way down.
