1959 GMC clutch help

Hi Guys, short story. Bought my truck after sitting for ten+ years. With a little work I got it on the road. Been driving it now for 3 years. After 3 years EVERYTHING has started leaking. I Pulled the motor for a cleanup and re-seal. Trouble is... I ordered the clutch that several sites recommend and when it shows up it is to small. My old disc appears to be 11 inches. New one is right about ten inches. It's a 1959 "Fleet option" GMC with the 270 and a 3-speed. Any help appreciated as to how I might go about getting the correct clutch that's needed.
Thanks

10" will work just fine unless your going to be towing or a lot of heavy hauling. 11" was the HD clutch and unless your going to get it rebuilt I don't think you will find one at the parts store. You need to look for a brake and clutch relining service like

http://www.industrialbrakeclutch.com/
http://www.allfrictions.com/home.html
http://heitmancompany.com/

or Arizona Brake & Clutch Supply

Re: 1959 GMC clutch help

Using the 10" is an option. However, it would put me in the market for a new flywheel to bolt up the new (smaller) pressure plate. I did finally find an 11" setup at LMC. Their catalog claims it's for a 55-59 283. Wonder if this is a replacement option for me? If I get no further I'll be calling Arizona Brake & Clutch Supply. Thanks!

You may have done this already but have you talked to a NAPA store?

Re: 1959 GMC clutch help

I looked in the Carquest catalog. They dont show a 11 in. clutch for a 270 but do for the 248. The 10 & 12 in part numbers are the same for both engines, so that one should fit. The part # is K5473-01. It fits practically all Chevs & GMC,s all through that era.
