Recon for s-10
Why is it when your not looking for something there at 5 on Craigslist but as soon as you decide you want it they can't be found or the price shoots up.
I decided I'm going to use an s10 for my 51 but am at a standstill till I find one. Any one know of one in the western-ish Washington area for 500 or less?. I think I need an 88 or older so I don't have to do emissions. ( according to DOL) Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Recon for s-10
Since those have got popular for swaps the price had gone up a lot. You could find one with a dead engine and beat body for a hundred bucks around here three years ago and the same truck in the same spot will be 500 or more now. Scrappers have driven the prices of stuff up too.
What's wrong with your stock frame that you need to change it? Personally If the stock frame is in good shape I'd much rather go to a Mustang II style or other custom crossmember and swap rear ends. If your frame is junk or you have no frame then the S-10 chassis is an ok deal. And just because the guys down at the gas station did it isn't always the best reason. |

Not an S10, but lots of parts for the money, and someone is doing it on this board.http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/3134766785.html

Re: Recon for s-10
A guy could probably sell enough off that one to cut the cost in half if he wanted it for a Burb conversion but 1500 is a lot of coin for a dead truck for parts.

Re: Recon for s-10
The 51 chassis I have is fine. I just want it low and don't have the money to go the orig parts route or the Mustang II route. From what I've read it's just cheaper to do the S-10. I've read the threads about it and heard both sides to the debate. just comes down to $$ and wanting to drive my truck sooner rather then later.
I've been searching CL just thought I'd hit up the forums I'm on to see if anyone knows of one somewhere. |
