cab mounts

hi guys! I have a 86 c10 and I have a question about my rear cab mounts .... why my truck has a crossmember for cab mounts?

All the trucks I've seen have a cab mount on each side without a crossmember

Re: cab mounts

That bed on the ground looks like the Chevy's that were built for Mexico Use.the tailgate is flat, chains on like a stepside, and has taillights similar to the 67-72 box. Kinda cool!

Re: cab mounts

I've seen them both ways. Not sure why they picked one over the other. Personally I'd prefer the full crossmember.

Re: cab mounts

I would say it has to do with having the 400th transmission , me and my buddy both own 77's shortbeds both have f-44 chassis, his having a 350/350th has mounts, mine is a 454/400th and has the crossmember the 400th has a bolt in yoke with a slip joint in the 2 part driveshaft, the carrier bearing was mounted to this crossmember ,
