Anyone using a Corvette C5 rear?

I'm trying to get my figuring out done so I can formulate my plan. Sounds a bit anal, huh? Yeah, well I am a bit. If I don't make a plan with a project I'll just sit and spin my wheels.

Here's my question:
Has anyone used a Corvette C5 transaxle and rear end in their truck? I'm using a '64 Nailhead up front with C4 (most likely) suspension. I'd like the truck to do well both on the road and on the track. Ive always been a Porsche guy, and would love to show up to a PCA track day with the truck and surprise everyone.

It looks to me like the huge torque tube could be the biggest obstacle. Maybe the shift linkage, too.

I dunno, who's tried it, or thought about it?

Truck is a '50 GMC 100.

Thanks!
